I loved the band “Deep Purple” back in the day. Deep Purple could also describe this red wine in the glass. Romulus is an homage to the winery owners’ beloved Clydesdale horse, “Romulus”.
This red blend is from Simmons Gap Vineyard in Piedmont, Virginia, and is composed of 53% cab sauvignon, 33% Petit Verdot, and 14% cabernet franc. These seem to be the classic noble grapes most emblematic of Virginia wines.
Drink now with protein, or hold for four to seven years to see how Romulus’ legs develop over time.
