The wine shows a light brick color in the glass, with red fruit and spice on the nose. It shows red and blue fruit, rustic herbs and spice, and a hint of vanilla, with lovely acidity and a medium finish on the palate. This Nebbiolo comes from the Bricco Rocche Cru in Barolo, within the Castiglione Falletto commune in the Langhe district of Piedmont.
Some backstory: The Ceretto family planted the Bricco Rocche vineyard in the 1980s and was one of the first wineries to focus solely on single-vineyard estate production.
This is an excellent wine that will develop beautifully over the next four to seven years; it’s already drinking well at only four years old. We enjoyed it tonight with a classic eggplant parmesan, penne pasta marinara, and finished our glasses with fresh figs and almonds to conclude a wonderful Sunday Supper.
