This wine is a vibrant blush in the glass, and you’ll be forgiven at a glance if you think it’s a Rosé from Provence. This is a fruit-forward dry rosé that opens with fresh berries and perfume on the nose, followed by red fruit and floral notes on the palate. What a lovely rosé – smooth, crisp acidity, fully balanced, and with a creamy mouthfeel. Kudos to Herb Quadi for this offering, and for doubling down on Rose in general. Just ask him!
Fruit came from Rogue and Applegate Valleys, and the wine is composed of 47% Grenache, 36% Syrah, and 13% Mourvèdre. He even threw in 4% Counoise for good measure. Herb grew his production – due to its popularity – from 60 cases almost twenty years ago to 3000 cases today. It’s a lot of rosé for a small family producer.
Also worth noting is the winery’s commitment to sustainable growing, regenerative farming of their estate fruit, and sustainable packaging. Check out the website for details.
