Youngberg Hill Vineyards, 2008 Jordan Pinot Noir

Like a sophisticated young person, this Pinot Noir has held its own for 16 years, a testament to winemaker Wayne Bailey’s point that Willamette Valley wines are meant to age.  The fruit is still intact with subtle tertiary notes of coffee, tobacco, and dried fruit. Dark berry fruit remains in balance with medium acidity, integrated tannins, and pleasant minerality from the marine sedimentary soils of the Jordan vineyard.

This is a wine of distinction and a tribute to Wayne Bailey’s winemaking style and true to the long-term approach of his legacy brand. This wine is worth purchasing if you can find it, at the winery direct. Otherwise, seek out any current release of “Jordan” Pinot Noir or the characteristic wines of her sisters “Natasha” and “Aspen”, who also hold their own.

Drink now or hold an additional 1-3 years. Click here for the WineCharacters interview.
