Light and effervescent in the glass, these bubbles pop with hints of citrus and green apple on the nose and palate, and are lip-smacking and refreshing. We offered the Liquid Light Brut NV bubbles to our tasting group as a palate cleanser before diving into a “Big Reds” tasting. The glasses were quickly drained – I had to tuck the balance of this bottle away for this wine review – a good sign of endorsement from attendees.
This is a very good sparkling wine, and is a tribute to the vineyard management team and winemaker Guy Barnes for innovation in the vineyards, resulting in a low-calorie – only 95 calories and 12% alcohol – yet tasty sparkler. I love the perky acidity and juiciness and would pair this wine with light salads, whitefish, soft cheeses, and anywhere brunch with friends may be happening.
