Wake up your mouth with this lively Brut sparkling from Gruet.
Although I typically equate bubbles with the Champagne, Loire, or Willamette Valley. regions, I shouldn’t be amazed that a sparkling wine of this caliber is coming out of New Mexico. The wine appears pale yellow in the glass, and lemony and effervescent on the palate. It’s a traditional method blend of 70% Pinot noir and 30% chardonnay. Flavors are on the fresher side, rather than yeasty, and with a medium mouthfeel.
At only 12.5% alcohol, your pairing options are endless. We enjoyed it on a sunny Portland, Oregon afternoon, on our deck with salty snacks – potato chips, Aztec corn nuts, and blistered peanuts. There’s a reason this is considered a match made in (wine) heaven.
