The wine is transparent green-yellow in the glass, and opens with citrus and spice, perky acidity, and a long, persistent finish. This is 100% Trousseau single vineyard Trousseau Gris from Fanucchi Wood Road Vineyard. Fruit is old-vine, dry-farmed, and hand-picked. Yeah!
I found this to be a surprisingly creamy wine, likely due to fermentation and aging on the lees in stainless. I was also pleased with the ABV – 13% – the wine shows no sign of its relatively high levels of alcohol, and I knew it would be a terrific food pairing wine. We paired it with a grilled tuna steak, broccoli chopped salad with avocado, and lemon herb dressing.
Kudos to founder Erin Reddan and her team on this unique offering. Read her WineCharacters interview to learn more.
