“Summer in a Bottle” Long Island Rose’ says it all, and delivers on its promise to take home a little taste of the Hamptons in a bottle. This very floral wine reminds me of my East Coast youth – rose petals and geraniums on the nose, with a nice herbaceousness and perky acidity on the palate. If only I were drinking this low-alcohol (12.4%) beverage when I was coming of age. Need I say more?
This is an excellent wine, and I highly recommend it at only $27.00 SRP. The winemaker Roman Roth blended 10 different varieties, mixing hybrids and international grapes to great effect.
I normally don’t comment on package – bottle, capsule, label – but I must. Etched on glass are images of East Coast flowers, butterflies, and birds that take me back to West Haven, CT, looking across to Long Island, NY. If I could, I would pair this rose with a seafood platter on the patio of a home in a New England beach town, and in this case, the Hamptons.
