Nerica was founded almost 25 years ago and is one of the leading producers in Čara, in the Pošip PDO. They are small family producers, but they are growing to over 6,000 cases annually. They do not export their wines and sell almost all inventory through their scenic valley-view tasting room.
This golden Pošip wine is beautifully structured, with aromas of fresh tree fruit and citrus. The wine finishes long, with a distinctive creamy mouthfeel and salinity from proximity to the Adriatic.
This excellent wine offers versatile food options. In the tasting room, it is thoughtfully paired with homemade tapas plates prepared by Maria Krajančić, whose husband, Jakša, is the winemaker. It pairs well with fresh fish and seafood, of course, as well as roast chicken or pork dishes. We paired the Mendel with seared pork loin chops and fresh figs and olive sauce.
Stay tuned. Wine Character Jakša’s interview is coming soon!
