This lovely 2024 Viognier from Maison Bleue appears transparent and golden-bronze in the glass. The wine is from the winery’s single vineyard estate in the Rocks District AVA. It’s aged in 100% neutral oak for 10 months with occasional lees stirring. Nonetheless, you’ll still get a hint of vanilla, honey, and tropical fruit on the nose and palate, to complement the creamy mouthfeel and medium-long finish.
This is a very good wine, less than one year old; I expect it will age nicely for another three to four years.
We’re pairing this tonight with Italian Cioppino loaded with tilapia, rock shrimp, and clams. Celebrate this pairing with garlic bread and a Brussel sprout, pomegranate pistachio salad.
