This is a crisp, dry white wine from the Corinth region PGI, on the Peloponnese. The wine’s steely acidity enhances citrus fruits, including grapefruit and green melon, with a hint of salinity from proximity to the Ionian Sea. While the winery is in Corinthos (Corinth), the estate vineyard, planted in 1896, is in the Mycenea region. It is one of the earliest vineyards planted in Greece, and in the same year as the 1st modern Olympics. Fruit is grown and certified organic.
I love low alcohol wines – this one at only 12.5% – and one is perfect for the grilled sea bream we purchased at the Central Market in Kalamata. And yes, it also works beautifully with the local Kalamata olives, and of course, Greek salads.
