Wines can be described as fresh, fruit-forward, herbal, floral, and so forth. This Grenache is light to medium in color, body, and length. But what it really is is Savory. All mushrooms, forest floor and herbaceous. It hits you immediately on the nose, palate, and finish.
Sarah, co-founder of Lyons Vineyard, loves Grenache. She produces two 100% Grenache wines from different clones: Dash 515 and 362. They are subtly distinctive. My preference is the 515 clone reviewed here. It’s a very good wine and meant to be paired with savory food. We selected grilled Coho salmon, grilled market zucchini, and a green salad with blueberries, feta, and pepitas.
