This big, robust Zinfandel shows the terroir of the region, highlighting its maritime breezes and calcareous soils. The wine is beautiful in the glass, deep red-maroon, with aromas of black fruit, minerality, dark chocolate, and baking spices.
This is a complex, full-bodied wine with a medium to long finish. The tannins are apparent – aged in French oak for 16 months – but softened over time. Open 30 minutes before serving, and decant if possible. The wine will open up and reward your efforts.
Drink now with grilled beef, lamb sausage, pasta Bolognese, any meat sauce, and pizza or “Pide” if you’re in Turkey, preferably at the Karnas Vineyards tasting room and restaurant, or hold for 4 to 7 years.
