The wines opens with citrus notes, minerality, pleasant acidity and a surprising brininess given the vineyards origins in Lodi, CA.
This is a very good example of Picpoul Blanc. It has all the bright acidity associated with the variety. Picpoul Blanc is originally from the south of France, most notably from the Languedoc region, near the Mediterranean coast. Picpoul means “lipstinger” in the local dialect and thusly named for its sharp acidity.
It’s hard to imagine Oysters paired with wine from Lodi but this is what comes to mind. Even more surprising is its low alcolhol at only 12%.
