Brace your nose for this floral, exotic, and perfumey Gewurztraminer. This wine reminds me of Alsace and would stand up to the wines of that region.
Winemaker Ted Gerber founded his eponymous winery in 1974, one of the early pioneers in the Rogue Valley. The high elevation (1500 feet) vineyards are proximate to Southern Oregon’s Siskiyou Mountains.
This exceptional wine was whole-cluster pressed for maximum flavor extraction, with no signs of stemminess. I love the bright acidity and medium-long finish. Bonus – only 13% alcohol, so perfect for pairing. This could be my new go-to for Asian and spicy foods, but tonight we’re having a classic Caesar salad, heavy on anchovies, and love.
