2023 Damiani Reserve Chardonnay

Clear pale yellow in the glass; clean and fresh on the nose; bright and lemony on the palate. The texture is creamy, and the finish is persistent. This is an excellent, well-balanced, cool-climate, acid-driven chardonnay from the folks at Damiani.

The fruit comes from two sustainably farmed vineyards on the east side of Seneca Lake, both of which are considered choice sites according to the Tech Notes. Katey Larwood and the winemaking team took special care during production. The grapes were hand-sorted, foot-stomped, and whole-cluster pressed, so you’re getting a complete expression of this fruit. The creaminess and mouthfeel are a result of 12 months on the lees and lots of batonage, with the wine finished in neutral oak. Extra points? Only 11.5% alcohol, so perfect for food pairing.

We’re having this tonight with dijonnaise grilled chicken breast, ratatouille, and a Greek salad with Tzatziki. Trust me, don’t hesitate, try this wine and pairing!
