This Cowichan Valley Pinot Noir is light-bodied, almost ethereal, and shows bright red fruit, floral notes, and baking spices. I love light-bodied Pinot Noirs with food and this one is an ideal food wine in my opinion. We paired this Pinot tonight with grilled salmon, roasted baby potatoes, and roasted broccoli. A simple presentation for this clean and floral pinot noir. The bright acidity worked perfectly with rich salmon. No surprise there.
This is an excellent wine – nicely balanced with fully integrated tannins – surprising for a pinot noir this young. The alcohol is low at only 12.1%, again, ideal for food pairing. I would also consider serving this as a chilled red, which is somewhat of a trend these days.
