The “Pentad” Red from Walla Walla, Washington is almost a classic Bordeaux blend, comprised of 36% Cab, 29% Merlot, 16% Petit Verdot, 12% Malbec, and 7% Carmenere.
This wine is deeply opaque, black-purple in the glass. Blackberries and plum with dusty minerality present on the nose. This is a luscious, juicy, fresh-fruited red blend, with acidity and balance and medium tannins that linger. The wine is full-bodied and structured to age for seven to 10 years, but is drinkable now with food. This is an excellent wine, layered and complex with a very long finish.
We’re pairing this tonight with barbecued beef burgers, Walla Walla onions, and a Greek salad. However, this wine would pair beautifully with whatever cut of beef or lamb steak you prefer.
