I’ve always loved wines from Atlas Peak in Napa Valley, and this is my new dress-up-in-Bermuda-shorts favorite Chardonnay. It’s resplendent with stone and tropical fruit flavors and the oak is restrained (always a concern of mine with Napa Chards). It’s golden color reminds me of summer and it makes me want to dance limbo, eat smoked salmon with Panzanella crackers, which I did.
The wine is a full-bodied Chardonnay, fairly high in alcohol but holds it own with plenty of juicy fruit, medium acidity and integrated tannins. This is a very good wine, just a baby at two years of age. Lovers of California Chard will want to secure some to drink now and hold for 3-5 years. I expect prices for this wine will increase as it ages. Buy now as a party statement and medium term investment.
