The Harmony Lane Estate Pinot Noir is highly aromatic and earthy on the nose. It has mid-palate texture and richness and finishes long and savory.
This is a big, lush, dark-fruited Russian River Valley red wine – surprisingly high in alcohol at 14.9% – and oak treatment at 75% new French oak for 30 months! The alcohol and oak are not apparent, and the wine is well structured and seems well balanced.
I paired this wine with a double-thick grilled pork chop, finished with Walla Walla onion confit and roasted red peppers. Greg, next time you’re in Portland, you’re welcome to stop by for dinner, and I will reprise this meal for you. Your contribution? Bring this lovely estate pinot noir.
