This is an excellent red blend and ideal for this wine character’s interview. The winery put a stake in the ground and states that “Isosceles” has been there flagship for the last 35 years.
The 2022 Isosceles is a big wine, comprised mostly of Cabernet Sauvignon, with Cab Franc and Merlot as supporting actors. By big wine, I mean 15.5% alcohol and 100% new French oak. But somehow it works. Here’s some addtional background.
Paso Robles is challenged with an extremely hot and dry climate, but winemakers like Scott are adapting. The 2022 vintage was exceptionally hot. I read something about a heat dome over much of the region. This wine is a tribute to winemaker Scott Shirley and team who have crafted an exceptional Bordeaux style blend.
Anyway, the entire product presents very well – package design, etched bottle, and so forth. You can confidently bring this to any meat lover’s dinner party. I also think this wine has a six to 10 year runway, so buy and hold and and taste along the way is recommended.
