Big black fruit-forward red wine. 100% Cab Franc. Crimson colored in the glass, this full-bodied red wine is still a toddler today, only one year old, but it’s packed with bold fruit and seasoned with American oak. Therefore, I believe it will become even more drinkable in the next few years. This is a very good wine, easy to drink now, and at only $27.00 retail it’s affordable for any budget. It will improve over the next three to five years.
Cabernet Franc is one of the five noble grapes from Bordeaux and is typically used for Bordeaux blends and less so on its own. I love single variety cab Franc, particularly from Loire Valley, and applaud Hope Family Winery for creating the “Quest” brand dedicated to featuring this grape.
We enjoyed this wine with grilled Tri-Tip steak, marinated in a red wine based BBQ sauce, with Italian bread to soak up the juices, and a chef salad with avo and feta cheese for good measure. Read Austin Hope’s winemaker interview here.
