2022 Casa Silva “Microterroir” Carmenere

Casa Silva is producing an exceptional Carmenere, shaped in part by the pioneering 2011 Genome Research Project. The wine shows a deep, inky purple color and offers expressive aromas of blackberry, cinnamon, spice, and hints of vanilla. On the palate, it is rich and smooth, with a long, layered finish.

The oak regimen—100% new oak aged for 15 months—adds structure and pronounced vanilla notes, followed by three to four years of bottle aging before release.

Sourced from the Los Lingues Vineyard in the Colchagua Valley, at the foothills of the Andes, the site’s significant diurnal temperature shifts help preserve freshness and vibrant acidity.

The wine is drinking beautifully now, with an estimated aging potential of 10–12 years.

We enjoyed it alongside grilled pork tenderloin and sausages, summer zucchini, and a corn and bean salad, an excellent pairing. Kudos to winemaker Juan for this outstanding expression of Chilean Carmenere.
