2022 Blasted Church “Hatfield’s Fuse”

Citrus with pear notes on the nose, and stone fruits with a creamy mouthfeel carry this wine forward. We tasted the 2022 “Hatfield’s Fuse” white wine in the summer of 2025. It has likely evolved and improved since its release.

This is an excellent wine, and no surprise that winemaker Evan Saunders chose it as emblematic of the Blasted Church brand. I wasn’t expecting a full-bodied blend – Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Viognier – but here we have it. Acidity is in balance, and low alcohol makes this a perfect food wine.

We paired it with an Oregon “Salade Niçoise” – romaine lettuce topped with smoked salmon, hard-boiled eggs, avocado, Greek Olives, Oregon strawberries, and feta cheese (maybe a few other random items found in our fridge). I imagine this one could pair well with most any white meat dishes, salads, and salty cheeses. Nice job, Evan. You and the Angel on the label nailed this one.
