2021 Santa Rita “Floresta” Carménère

Deep black plum in color, and concentrated fruit on the nose, along with white pepper herbs and savory notes on the palate. This is a very good from historic vines and a pedigreed producer.

This is dry-farmed old-vine Carménère from the Apalta Valley D.O. in Colchagua, Chile. The Apalta region is generally considered one of the Grand Cru winegrowing areas in Chile.

At only four years of age, I expect this wine will develop admirably for at least three to five years. Congrats to Teresita for delivering on this classic Carménère. We prepared grilled pork loin chops marinated in olive oil, thyme, salt and pepper, with potatoes and escarole on the side. Hello Chile, if you’re listening, try this wine and this pairing.
