2021 Muscardini “Tesoro” Red Wine

The Muscardini Cellars “Tesoro” red blend opens with bold, dark red fruit, earthy, herbaceous notes, and balanced acidity. It finishes long, spicy, and savory. Think food pairings with classic Italian red sauce dishes.

This wine is the “Treasure” that inspired founder and winemaker Michael Muscardin and his Mother, who came up with this label in Napa Valley over 20 years ago. The inspiration was Tuscany and the Sangiovese grape. The blended 43% Sangio with 29% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Syrah for this Super Tuscan-style red wine. This all goes to Michael’s heritage, his passion for Old World red wines, and the Sangiovese grape.

We paired this with a New York Times recipe from Melissa Clark – Spinach Meatballs and marinara sauce – The meatballs are soft and fluffy, the red blend rich and savory. Read Michael’s Wine Characters interview and explanation here.
