I haven’t met the four brothers in Kim Bush’s life, but that doesn’t matter; their collaboration on this wine does. This Syrah from Folded Hills hits my sweet spot (no pun). It’s got structure and the right balance of blue fruit, medium+ acidity, and medium tannins to be drinkable now, and ageable for the next three to five years.
Kim is the poster person for the Folder Hills brand (along with her husband Andy and their sons). They understand what it takes to be successful – personal brand stories, quality production, and giving back. I applaud the Bush family. This is an exceptional wine, and is emblematic of my goals for wineries participating in the Wine Characters branding project.
This savory Syrah is begging for food, and of course, we are happy to oblige. Out of the freezer emerged an eggplant parm, complemented by an arugula salad with pepitas and light vinaigrette.
