Brad Binko is the proprietor and winemaker of Eternal Wine. His second label – Drink Washington State – is the name of the winery, and also a call to action. This Wahluke Slope Carménère is deep Crimson in the glass, with aromas of cinnamon and clove, and distinct barrel notes of toast and vanilla. This is a big-fruited wine from a hot vintage, but winemaker Brad managed to retain freshness and acidity, while keeping alcohol below 14%.
Brad has been making wine in Washington state since 2014, and stumbled across Carménère unexpectedly. Read his interview below. He’s embraced the grape with love returned, and the results show up in the glass. You want this wine with food, think grilled chicken and pork, or lamb’s sausage.
