2021 Chateau Ste. Michelle “Artist Series” Red Wine

The wine is deep magenta, signaling its dark fruit-forward nature. This is a savory wine, characterized by its dense texture and balance, with a medium finish. The red is drinking nicely now, and I expect the tannins will soften further over the next three to five years. Given the oak regimen of 35% new and neutral oak, it will age indefinitely, for at least 10 years from the vintage date.

This is a very good wine that showcases winemaker Joel Wright’s style, and also a good cause with very good marketing. The “Artist Series” highlights local artists each vintage with their art as the label. The 2021 vintage showcases Moses Sun, an afro-abstractionist. I received two bottles of this 2021 red wine, both with different works of art. How interesting.

We’re having it tonight with Italian chicken basil sausage, and quinoa salad. The savoriness of the sausage complements well with this red Bordeaux-style blend.
