This Syrah is packed with everything you’d hope for — big fruit, apparent acidity, and integrated tannins – even at its youthful age of only three years. The alcohol is mostly restrained at only 14.7% on the label. I want to sit on a lot of this wine for three to seven years and see how it develops.
This is a very good example of what a Paso Syrah can be — big, fruity, round, and full-bodied, with a long velvety finish. We drank this wine with spicy beef chili, and it handled the dish well, toning down the pepperiness and bringing out its meatiness. Add cornbread, and you’ve got yourself a simple Paso Robles Syrah feast. Read the Booker winemaker Pete Turrone interview here.
