This Texas Malbec has a deep ruby appearance in the glass and fades to light amber on the rim. It opens with aromas of red and black fruit, with savory forward front and center. On the palate, I get sage, green steminess, leather, and lovely secondary notes of baking spiciness. This wine is built for food pairing, and the range of options should be wide. See my pairings below.
100% of the fruit is Texas Heritage Vineyard-designated, from the Fredericksburg area of Texas Hill Country.
This Malbec is medium-bodied with medium acidity and integrated tannins. This is a very good wine, well-made, so drink up now or hold one to three years.
Tonight’s dinner wine was paired with lamb kebabs, green chile bratwurst, tzatziki, lavash, and a Greek salad. You get the idea.
