Ron Yates, founder and wine grower, planted Tempranillo at Spicewood in 2008. It’s some of the oldest in Texas Hill Country. This is a big, jammy, full-bodied wine with hints of baking spices, black plum and peppercorn on the palate. This is a very good wine that is aged nicely and is ready to drink now.
We paired the Temp with a classic Mexican chicken red mole sauce. Not quite what you would find in Rioja, Spain, but a darn good pairing.
